 WHAT IS BLACKROOTS

Blackroots is a co-op fantasy/horror game where players work together or alone to resist a dark force known as Ul'vorran. Fight back against Ul'vorran’s growing darkness. Purge corruption and break pacts before they are fulfilled, or dive into Story Mode. Earn currency, level up, and unlock tools to increase your chances of survival.

Here is Backstory

A long time ago, a small order devoted itself to protecting people from dark forces. They used forbidden knowledge to keep the world safe.

In their search for greater power, they discovered the name Ul'vorran.

Some members chose to go astray. They sought a pact with Ul'vorran in exchange for strength.

To bring Ul'vorran back into the world, they performed a ritual beneath the oldest tree in existence.

Some resisted, because they knew better. They understood that Ulvorran would not keep its word and would only bring greater darkness into the world.

When they could no longer resist others and stop the ritual, they devoted themselves to fighting this force instead. They broke away and formed a new order of their own separating themselves from the others. 
Called themselves Obscura

We fight in shadows so others may live in the light."

Those who bound themselves to the ritual in search of strength were consumed by it.

Now Ul'vorran spreads its force through the pacts it makes with those it deceives. Wherever a pact is made, black roots begin to grow. They spread from that place, twisting through the ground and corrupting everything they touch. For centuries, Obscura has fought Ul'vorran. Each generation passes the mission forward. Now, the fight belongs to you!

Multiple Game Modes

The game features two modes at the start of your journey: Story Mode and Purge Mode. Story Mode is focused on narrative, while Purge Mode is centered on breaking unfinished pacts.

The Madness Maze

When your sanity drops to zero, you are pulled into the Madness Maze.
In there, you are alone and your teammates cannot help you, they can only hear your scream.
Inside, something is chasing you. The maze is filled with traps.
The maze keeps changing and re-shaping, so do not trust your memory!
