Inspired by the thrilling, mystical and at the same time exciting and adventurous worlds of the Roadside Picnic novel, Stalker movie and, of course, famous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, Ashen Sky aims to recreate the sensation of being face to face with the vast unknown. The gameplay is harsh and combat is unforgiving, since casual shootouts without serious consequences are not what this codebase aims for; instead, it is about working in teams with different specializations between players as every character has a set of traits that define their parameters, in order to survive, uncover the secrets of the anomalous territories and learn how to make use and profit of your knowledge. It's about being all alone with the absolutely uncaring, alien Zone - one where no admin will magically help you if you get killed by another player, where there are no rules, yet the game punishes playing dumb and aggressive, and the best strategy is being smart and patient.

MMORPG, Extraction Shooter, and "Minesweeper" all rolled into one.

Ashen Sky is an online role-playing project inspired by the "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." aesthetic, yet carving its own path. We offer our own version of the Zone: featuring unique locations, terrifying creatures born of anomalous energy and many other secrets.

Our goal is to create a world that accommodates any playstyle: from meditative exploration of anomaly fields to adrenaline-pumping firefights. At first, character death is inevitable, but defeats only temper you, turning accumulated knowledge into your primary advantage. The Zone tirelessly generates unpredictable situations, making every raid a truly unique adventure.

A World Living by Its Own Laws

Ashen Sky is a true simulation. There is no bloated moderation staff with endless rules here. Order is maintained by impartial automated systems. Only three immutable laws govern this world:

No OOC (Out of Character) during gameplay.
No bug abuse.
Maintain common decency inside the game.

Absolute Faction Freedom

All factions in Ashen Sky are created by the players themselves. If your idea is interesting and your group's numbers are stable, we will integrate your faction into the game. This includes creating unique faction items based on your sprites (provided they match the visual style). Eco-cultists, militants nostalgic for the past, or crazed mystics — the history of the Zone is written by your hands.

Key Project Features

Thoughtful and Hardcore Gameplay: We are moving away from arcade conventions. Without armor, even a single bullet can be lethal, loading magazines takes time, and medical supplies do not provide instant healing.
The Price of a Mistake: Anomalies do not forgive carelessness. Each character can venture into the Zone only once per launch — regardless of whether they die or return with loot.
Role-playing System: Develop your characters between raids. Become stronger, tougher, or smarter than others, creating a unique build tailored to your playstyle.
Strength in Unity: The Zone forces teamwork. A great marksman isn't always a good guide. Survival depends on whether you can find reliable companions.
Living Economy: Prices for equipment and artifacts change dynamically. The market is entirely driven by player supply and demand.
Unique Bestiary: Monsters require a tactical approach. Buckshot is effective against some, others can only be pierced by armor-piercing rounds, and some are safer to take down with an axe or sledgehammer.
No Hand-holding: We are fundamentally against "guiding players by the hand." You must study all mechanics and secrets yourself or rely on the advice of seasoned veterans.
